There’s isn’t much that’s more iconically Amsterdam than bikes and canals in my mind. Wherever you look it’s always bikes and canals for as far as the eye can see. I snapped the above just up the road a little from the Anne Frank House on my first ever visit to the city way back in May 2010.
I have returned since then, and while I was still getting bells dinged at me and people yelling to “get out of the bike lane” I’ve learnt it is by far the best way to see the city. With the canals leading you along a sort of tour through the city it’s easy to get lost in all the beauty. Be it a stop to marvel at the houses as they lean to and fro under an unsteady footing or perhaps just resting up in a park to take in a summer’s day. It all just sounds like a perfect way to explore a new place don’t you think?
Awesome shot!
Really nice capture mate. The leaning buildings really amazed me, the city has such a cool vibe. And we got yelled as well the first day we were there. Until we got bicycles and then we were the ones doing the yelling 🙂
I am going to do a whole Euro bikes time lapse video this year. Amazing how many there are around here.
great way to travel short distances also!
Awesome pic in black and white.Great way to travel through the streets of Amsterdam. I loved the leaning houses,so quaint?
