Herrenchiemsee Palace, built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria was modelled on the Palace of Versailles in France. It’s located on the island Herreninsel in the Chiemsee lake (the largest lake in Bavaria), approximately 60 kilometers from Munich.
Ferries operate frequently from the many towns that sit on the edge of the Chiemsee lake. On a clear day it makes for quite the relaxing ride as you float across the lake. Along with seeing and touring Herrenchiemsee Palace (also called the New Palace) you can also visit the Augustinian Monastery (or Old Palace) along with walking the vast parklands that surround the royal buildings on Herreninsel.
Gorgeous!
Looks like a pretty bad-ass palace!
absolutely beautiful! at first look I thought it was the Versailles palace
