The 12 Apostles are an iconic landmark along the Great Ocean Road and are well worth the drive along Victoria’s scenic coastline. I grew up just a short two-three hour drive away and it’s only now that I’ve come to appreciate just how much there is to see and do so close to my home. This lookout point is also just one of the many scattered along the coast and while the 12 apostles might be one of the best known you really need to stop off and visit all of them.
Check out my earlier post on driving the Great Ocean Road for a full overview of just what else you can find along my home states famous road.
My tip if you are planning to visit (especially during summer) is to arrive early or late in the day so the sun doesn’t get in the way of you snapping a photo.
I would love to drive the Great Ocean Road. Looks absolutely beautiful.
It’s a great drive Sophie. Beautiful coastal scnery mixed in with national parks and a whole list of great little towns. Is the perfect holiday drive.
Lovely stuff… This brings back memories from when I was travelling Australia in 2006. Hows the olde erosion shenanigans going on with the apostles?
Jimmy, erosion isn’t being kind to the apostles. i believe we are down to 7 or 8 now and only getting worse. I’m certainly glad to have been around to see them while they still existed. The lookout points won’t be the same when they are all gone.
OMG, beautiful image!!
Thanks Christie, it was a great day to grab a photo there.
Breathtaking! Isn’t it amazing when you learn to appreciate where you are from and see it through a tourist’s eye?
When I saw the title, I didn’t know what to expect 🙂
haha Irene I’ve never looked at it that way.
Breathtaking scenery!
Spectacular! But Nature always is
I’ve been there! Stunning view!
I’ve heard that some of the limestone stacks collapsed last year. Is it true?
We were lucky enough to visit the 12 Apostles in July (winter), it wasnt actually too bad but would recommend a rain jacket!
We got a little wet but the photos came our great thanks to the great clouds!
