Being Australian I can’t wait to escape the place to be honest. What with all our open space, hot weather and free flowing beer. Hang on why did I leave again… Anyway while thousands of Australian’s escape to Asia for a cheap stay and a bit of fun or head to Europe for the history and splendor we lack, many foreigners make the long flight to Australia.
One such foreigner that I’ve been talking too for awhile now is the lovely Heather from www.theresnoplacelikeoz.com. She’s all set to land in OZ on the 23rd of May and I can’t wait to read about her stay in my home country. She too took the plunge into travel like I did leaving her job behind.
While I knew what to expect looking to get a visa for the UK I did learn that if your travelling to Australia you can only get a 1 year visa to live and work there as opposed to the 2 years I received for the UK.
I’m really excited to hear stories from Heather and other travellers as they tour my home land. A fresh eye over places that are so well known to me will be interesting. I may just learn a few things about my home that I didn’t know and have to re-visit others for a new experience.
Do you like reading reviews or write ups on your home town or a place you know well?
I’d love to see a travel write up on my hometown of Atlantic – a small place with 7,000 people in beautiful, Southwest Iowa. It’d be brilliant!

Hey Matt. That would be a better write up than say on a large city just because of the size of it.
Heather is gonna totally fall in love with Oz! Lucky girl!!!!!!
hehe I know Andi. She will never want to leave!!
Thanks Chris!!! I tweeted today but hadn’t caught up on posts so was surprised just now to see I’m your 22 Travel Blogger post — which is perfect, because that number has significance for me 🙂
So happy for you that you’re loving Europe and excited to see what opportunities present themselves for you in London, if you do indeed choose to look there. Thanks for encouraging and supporting me since we first met on Twitter! You’re a rockstar, and I look forward to meeting one day and having a beer!

Well I’m glad I picked number 22 for you mate. Happy to help you out and we so need to catch up for a beer somewhere around the world.
Looking forward to Heather’s posts in oz too. Just added her blog to my reader.
Good work Todd. Heather is a champ and I cant wait to see what she gets up to in australia.
Wow, that will be interesting to see how an outsider sees your own country. 🙂

For sure Jeannie. I think a few others are hitting australia this year so can’t wait to see what they all think.
I love the switcheroo effect of this Blogger Friday! Ugh, I still need to get to Australia someday. I wish I were joining you for some Belgian beer this afternoon — and buy me some chocolate!! (Kidding, I still don’t have mail, sigh.)

Hey Abby. Wait to see Australia when I’m back there, will be much more fun that way 🙂
Oh the belgian beer got to me last night on the ferry to helsinki. Drinking with a swedish guy I met there was not good for my wallet or head.
So excited for you Heather. Can’t believe the big day is almost here! Anxiously awaiting your first posts when you get there 🙂
