A Pub With A View

There is nothing more relaxing for me than sitting in a pub with a view and a nice cold beer. So with that said take a look at the image above and imagine where it might have been taken. Australia, perhaps the Caribbean or even somewhere in America.

What if I was to tell you it came from England, South Devon to be exact. For this is indeed true. I was lucky enough to be hosted by the English Riviera where I stayed at the Cary Arms in Torquay where I woke up to this view each day. Kinda makes you realise England is so much more than rain and grey skies huh?

Ah South Devon, my second home since my family are from there!! Haven’t been back in a while but definitely need to pay a visit this summer.

England (or Britain in general) is definitely not only rainy and grey. I was recently on a trip to the Scottish highlands, at the Isle of Iona, where the waters are even more turquoise than this, as well as the sand on the beaches is really white and fine. It really didn’t look like Britain at all, nor feel like it, with sun and warmth all day, even though it was actually kind of north in Scotland!

Wow Idun I’m going to have to checkout the Isle of Iona then before I leave the UK sounds amazing especially for Scotland.

You should if you get the chance, and hopefully you’ll get as amazing weather as I had when I was there 🙂

    Great shot!

I’ve just completed a rtw mission and met a girl in Seattle who is originally from So Cal. She’s coming home with me to England, shots like this help me out no end with the sales pitch so thanks!

I would have never guessed this was England. Perhaps I should go back to see more than London and Stonehenge 🙂

What an amazing view, many of the English don’t realise the beauty they can see without jumping on a plane.

Wow – would not have guessed England! I could totally see myself sitting there, relaxing with a nice glass of wine. Reminds me of a place I stayed in Mallorca – our view from the balcony was similar!

A goal of mine is to get back to England and walk the Derbyshire Dales with my partner, who was born and raised there. We spent a few sunny days exploring back in 2007 and I want to go there (this time, with our backpacks) and wander for days, staying at pubs along the way. Looks like I will be adding the English Riviera to our itinerary : )
