While touring Israel recently I stumbled across the above sign post when I visited the Golan Heights in the north of the country. So many times around the world I’ve seen similar signs all pointing out major cities like New York, Sydney and London as if to say hey look how close we are to them. This one however points to Israel’s close neighbours like Jordan, Iraq, Syria and the PM’s Office of all places 🙂
Cool! 🙂
Are those cutouts of dudes with guns in the background? I do love these kind of sign posts!
Mica yes they are cardboard cutouts well sheets of tin from memory. The location is a significate lookout point relating to when Syria invated Israel. You can see Syria from that spot.
Only 800 km to Bagdad…Do it!
Whoa, I thought those were real soldiers at first glance! Haha 😀
Cool sign. I would actually have thought the distance to Bagdad to be far greater than 800km…
You learn something every day, I guess 😀
Tobias I thought the same thing, had no idea Bagdad was that close.
ya kind of scary right?
Super post! I`ll send it to all my friends!
When I saw the title of this post I thought it would definitely be a photo of a “Danger Landmines” sign which they’ve got in the Golan. I actually have at least one of those. Yours is great, though, and I’ve never seen it before!
First off I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Cheers!
