The Blue Lake in Mount Gambier is something of a local attraction for me as I grew up not to far away. As a kid and adult I’d visit to see the fascinating changes in the colour of the lake. During the summer months of December to March its a beautiful cobalt blue, while during April to November its a far less attractive grey.

Youth Mobility Visa Ultimate Guide
Over 3 years ago I posted about how to apply for a Tier 5 UK Youth Mobility Visa (previously called the working holiday visa) as an Australian. I’d struggled with finding the correct information so thought to share my experience with the world in the hopes it would help somebody else. The response to my posts has been nothing short of amazing since then so to all of you who’ve […]
Read More...Moving To London
Moving to London was more daunting than any other move I’d ever undertaking in my life. Before I’d move to study or relocate to the city because it’s just what you do. But moving 2 hours drive from home or even another state in Australia is nothing compared to moving to London, one the biggest international cities around on the other side of the world. In the interest of helping […]
Read More...Career Advice from Travelling
Career advice from travelling? I know what your thinking but go with me on this for a minute there’s a message in here. Some people look at travel and the people who do it and think WOW aren’t they lucky. Their off seing the Eiffel Tower in Paris, floating around in the Dead Sea or just enjoying a beer somewhere famous and you can’t help but be jealous of them. It’s […]
Read More...Anzac Day at Gallipoli, Turkey
Anzac Day… one of the most solemn days for any Australian or New Zealander as we stop to remember our fallen soldiers at Gallipoli in Turkey during the First World War. The battle at Gallipoli lasted some 8 months between the Anzacs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) and the Turkish Ottoman’s who were allied with Germany at the time. On just the Australian side over 8000 lives were lost […]
Read More...Bank Accounts and National Insurance Numbers
Before I planned my big moving to London adventure I was concerned about all the paperwork I’d have to fill out just to work here. Bank Accounts I understood, but the National Insurance Number seemed completely foreign to me. The National Insurance Number (think Tax File Number Australians) is required by your employer and while used for tax purposes it also gets you access to free health services should you […]
Read More...Exploring the History of America in St Augustine
When I took off to explore Florida recently I was expecting an array of beaches and sunshine to be the real focus of the trip, but as it turns out Florida is pretty jam-packed with history. St Augustine located in the north-east of the state was one of several stops I made that forced me to realise America is home to some pretty cool history of its own. St Augustine […]
St Andrews State Park, Panama City Beach
I took a helicopter ride over Panama City Beach with Panhandle Helicopters while in Florida recently and was greeted with the above as we circled above St Andrews State Park. As my first ever helicopter ride I was nervous to say the least, especially as we tipped from side to side as a turn was made. But the fear was soon forgotten as the beautiful beach and state park appeared […]
Travel Scotland, The Best Small Country In The World
Ever since I applied for my youth mobility visa to live and work in the UK I’d wanted to travel Scotland. I always saw it as this untouched wilderness that bore truth to tales like the Loch Ness monster. Scotland has this allure to it that not many other places in the world do, it’s as if visiting there could whisk me off into another time. It took me over […]
Cedar Key Sunset
Many things come and go but I know for certain the sun will rise in the morning and set in the evening. Luckily on my two week road trip across Florida recently I had the chance to admire it on a regular basis. The above Cedar Key sunset was shot after spending some time exploring the town and just seeing where the roads go. Because everyone drives down random roads […]
Dealing With Long Flights
Being from Australia I’ve had to deal with my share of long flights. Singapore is around 9 hours away, Dubai about 14 hours and well if you want to see Europe or America then you can expect a good 24 hours+ of airports and planes to reach your destination. As I prepare for another trip home to Australia this week its got me thinking about how good would it have […]
