Having asked some of my fellow travel blogging friends to step up and taste vegemite for me I figured it was time that I proved just how easy it is to eat. So after watching Suzy Guese take on my challenge I just had to set things right and prove that it doesn’t taste like insects. Watch on and see just how tasty vegemite is.

VEGEMITE VS NEVER ENDING FOOTSTEPS - THE AUSSIE NOMAD -
July 14, 2011
[…] a go end up leaving me with a less than positive outcome. Even my attempt to show everyone that Vegemite is awesome failed to unite the masses in a wave of crazy Vegemite awesomeness. So after a bit of a break I was […]
After Suzy called it insects, I have to defend! If a Canadian can love insects, why not the rest of the world? and good on ya for proving your deep, abiding love. 🙂
Oh crap, replace the second “insects” with Vegemite. Look what’s Suzy’s done. 🙂 Put insects in my head. This doesn’t bode well for the pro-Vegemite crowd does it?
As long as you don’t get the real insects mixed up with Vegemite while your travelling there shouldn’t be too much of a problem 🙂
Love it Chris! Now I see how easy it is 😉
Actually, if you saw my video you know I didn’t mind it. I didn’t love it, but not bad. I think the type of bread I had went well with it…not sure if I’d “enjoy” it as much otherwise.
Next up for you is a peanut butter and jelly challenge! I think I sent you the video of @iJack72 doing it, right?
Exactly Heather its extremely easy to eat.
I’m not sure if I watched your video or not, you better send me the link so I can add it up here to the hall of fame 🙂
Peanut Butter and JAM I assume your talking about, yeah I guess I can take that on.
haha, I’m an Aussie but do I get a shot eating it?
I’m missing my vegemite on toast! Gotta go to the Australian shop and get some more!
Nicole your more than welcome to have a shot. You know you can get vegemite at sainsbury’s and tesco etc. No need to visit the australia shop and pay a fortune.
BA Barakas said I aint getting on no plane fool
I say I aint eating no vegemite fool : )
Your missing out mate, you’d be a fool not to eat it 🙂
It doesn’t taste bad. Oh, well I’m not really a good judge because I eat every food that is placed on the table as long as its not alive
Marmite is the only true ‘mite. Hope your travels bring you to Blighty to see the light!
I got hooked on vegemite when I was in New Zealand. It’s so good. Marmite, on the other hand, I really don’t like!
Nick, I’ve been tempted to grab some marmite here in the UK to see how it compares but its just too liquidy for my liking.
Oh, you have to try it, Marmite is not liquidy. OK, maybe a little smoother than Vegemite, but worth a try I’d say.
Well Jon I’ve lashed out and taken a small step by buying some oven baked marmite cashews. Will see just how that turns out shortly 🙂
lol. Have your tried Twiglets? Do you get them in Oz?
Hilarious! 😀 hahahaha
I had vegemite with jam once-In Jeju island, Korea. provided by a French man who spend a lot of months in Australia, and it was actually quite good. Can I challenge you? haha!! 😀
Chris – I’d try it. Doesn’t sound too bad. We need to get you to try scrapple in Philadelphia, PA US.
OK Don but I’m going to need to google what scrapple is before I commit to anything 🙂
Haha! I think it’s great that you’re trying to spread the Vegemite. I’ve only ever smelled it, and I’m not sure I’d be able to get it down.
Oh Audrey, if you are ever in the same part of the world as me I’ll show you the right way to eat it and I know you’ll love it.
Hey Nomad…lived on the Gold Coast for a few years and when I came back to the States I brought two primary things back with me: an Aussie Wife and a love of vegemite. Since you’re in the UK, ease into Marmite with Twiglets…they are like marmite flavored Cheetos. I’ve got your first beer if you ever make it to Colorado.
Nice one Brad, does that mean I can come over to the states and take a lovely lady from your parts to even everything out 🙂
I’ll look out for the twiglets too as I’ve not seen them.
I’d have to say that that is entirely up to your powers of persuasion. But hey, go for it!
Vegemite and bread… a true Aussie breakfast
when i first moved to australia, i was given vegemite on toast with goat cheese. it was so good! i moved back to american recently and cant find vegemite anywhere and im a poor student who cant afford the shipping to get it here! haha its so sad.
Interesting, I have had marmite and cheddar on a few occasions, never tried with goat cheese. Sounds interesting. I wonder if it would work toasted?
the bread was toasted, then spread with vegemite, and then this delicious herbed goat cheese (packed in herb oil I believe). It was SO good. I’ve tried it with other goat cheeses too and its just as delicious. Vegemite and melty butter on toast also became a staple.
Sounds good. I admit, I do not eat so much marmite these days (37 now ..) but when I was a student on a tight budge, many meals were marmite on toast. Made a nice change from beans on toast!
Vegemite is the first thing i thrown in my backpack when heading off. If you try mashed potato and pumpkin and mix vegemite in also….deliciuous
I LOVE Vegemite. All time favourite food ever, I actually cannot explain why but I legitimately crave it while I’m overseas!
I’ve been out of Vegemite for awhile Oceana so looking forward to getting home to OZ on Friday to have some again.
After 5 months in South East Asia it was avocado, tomato, cheese and vegemite toast for me! 🙂
